"She Blinded
Me With Science" is a New Wave song by British instrumentalist Thomas
Dolby, released in 1982. It was first out as a single in the UK in October 1982
and was consequently incorporated on the EP Blinded by Science and the next
edition of Dolby's introducing album The Golden Age of Wireless. It is an
original, playful synthpop song showing synthesizer sounds, along with a guitar
track by XTC's Andy Partridge.
Though a success
in the United States, peaking at No. 5 in the Billboard Hot 100 and 2 weeks at
No. 1 in Canada's RPM Magazine, the song just managed to make among the Top 50
in Dolby's local United Kingdom, peaking at No. 49 in the UK Singles Chart.
The song's singing
group, "She blinded me with science", plays upon the informal British
expression "to blind [someone] with science", meaning to
intentionally puzzle someone by giving the feeling of highly complex knowledge.
